On June 5, 2025, BYD and local dealer LOXEA (a subsidiary of CFAO Group) held a brand launch conference in the Oloumi Industrial Zone in Libreville, the capital of Gabon. The conference attracted nearly 100 media, government officials, car enthusiasts and potential car buyers. Gabonese Minister of Trade Gninga Chaning Zenaba also attended the conference to witness BYD’s new chapter in Africa.

As an environmental benchmark in Africa (with a forest coverage rate of over 85%), Gabon is accelerating the “Green Economic Transformation Plan”. “BYD’s choice of Gabon is strategically significant,” emphasized Marc Hirschfeld, CEO of CFAO Mobility. “The environmental policies here are highly consistent with BYD’s brand vision of ‘cooling the earth by 1°C’. We will rely on our sales network in Africa to demonstrate our commitment to ‘based in Africa, serving Africa’ and promote the Gabon model to the entire West Africa.”

Yao Shu, BYD’s director of auto sales in Africa, said in his speech: “Entering the Gabon market marks BYD’s further development in Africa. Gabon’s vision for electrification transformation coincides with BYD’s. Gabonese car owners will enjoy the excellent driving experience and green and low-carbon travel mode brought by BYD’s world-leading new energy technology.”

So far, BYD has entered 17 countries and regions in Africa and is deeply involved in Africa’s green transformation process. In the future, BYD will continue to work closely with partners to deepen its African market layout and bring consumers more diverse and more environmentally friendly new energy travel experiences.
